Art for Animals!!

Well, I relinquished  my photo studio at Umbrella to make way for our 3rd Annual popcornfest bash, And this year, it went a little differently.
Instead of being too busy to meet and talk to folks by throwing another rockin' tattoo promotion, this year we hosted ART FOR ANIMALS, a fundraiser for the Porter County Humane Society.
It was so amazing!
We had kids painting faces, food, fun and music and everyone left feeling like they'd had fun and helped out the animals.--Even if said animals were themselves.
First, the collection was a massive show of support from friends and supporters of all things animal, from all over the States.  Tattoo artists and painters like Ron Russo, Troy Timpel, Bill Rhine, Austina Obscura, Ken KarnageZaq Weaver, the dudes from Timeless Tattoo and Double Crossed: Roman Costa and Greg Dyer Eddie Bonacore, Emilio Saylor, and Kevin Cole (here), Angela Collins, Frank Rigg, Taylor Thorp (my kid's art teacher!).  As well as the photographic styling of myself (mAry d'Aloisio) , Lee Miller, and Jon Meyers. And even some crazy dark skull sculpture from Mike Hernandez and Amy Zavalydriga
Jon Meyers also intrigued us with his emotional and dramatic acoustic styling.
Second, I should probably mention that in addition to being sooo grateful for the outpouring of creative support for our lil art show and fundraiser, the food was fun and creative.  The shop  kids had fun creating fruit trays and cheese spreads, and kept it pretty hood with a fabulous Twinkies display.  The frosting on the proverbial cake was the AMAZING cupcake styling of Ms.Christie Elkins who donated her time and energy to make the very best in cupcake heaven.
The Art show began around 6 and dwindled down by around 11 or so with 9 pieces being sold , and a little over $500 being raised !!! (assuming all winning bidders come to pick up their art)
Because the collection didn't sell out, and the tremendous amount of requests, we're going to keep the remaining pieces on display for a bit and let you stop on by and view them for yourself. Come by and get you some at Umbrella Ink so you can have some fantastic art, and I can reclaim my studio!
Check out info for the event info on our facebook event page Continuing Art Sale.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out, it brings tears to my eyes, and redeems our sense of purpose in doing our part to overcoming a little bit of the vulgarity of existence.
